SLP Traveling Baseball Board Meeting (2-25-18)

Brief updates and discussion on anything requiring board input or vote

  • Association, Board and League (Erik/Jeb)
    • Moving to a more formal approach to board meetings
    • MBL Rules – Erik, Jeb and Mike attended the MBL Travel Directors meeting
  1. New Rule - All 14 year old baseball (including 14/15A) will not play 9 man baseball in league and tournaments, and instead play continuous batting)
  2. New Rule
    • For tournaments – introduced max pitch counts (95 pitches per game, 135 pitches total in a tournament)
    • For league play – still going with innings pitched
  3. New Rule
    • No player rostered on a MBL (Metro Baseball League) team can be rostered on a club team on or after April 23rd (excludes VFW, Legion and high school baseball)
  • Key dates
  • March 15th – Payment to MBL
  • March 29th – Regional Alignment Meeting
  • April 7th – Scheduling meeting
  • April 17-19 – Coaches meeting
  • April 23 – League play begins for all ages other than 15’s
  • June 1st – Rosters freeze
  • June 25th – State Tournament bids need to be turned in
  • July 13-15: State Tournaments (Specifics depend on teams)
  • July 20-22: State Tournaments (Specifics depend on teams)
  • July 27-29:State Tournaments (Specifics depend on teams)
  • Aug 1-5: August Classic
  • Finances (Mark)
  • Secretary and Registration (Gino)
    • Website is up to date (team pages, players rostered, tournaments listed – need to add MSF dates to each team page)
    • Need to add in-season development session dates (per Greg)
  • Player and Coach Development (Greg)
  • Slugfest and Tournaments (Mike)
    • Mike Bendickson and Matt Farley are serving as Tournament Directors
    • One team short on 14AA
    • Three teams short on 15AAA
    • All others are full (but feeling okay because some teams are having tryouts now)
    • Need to get refund policy in writing on website and potentially included in confirmation email
    • Need to create a separate NGIN account next year for Slugfest to gain better visibility to Slugfest revenues (and costs)
  • Uniforms (Sarabeth)
    • Uniforms have been ordered (includes hat with embroidery, 2 shirts, jersey).Coaches receive shirts and hat + a few extras
    • Arrival date TBD
    • No spirit wear will be available at Slugfest
    • Winning teams get a shirt (Mike working with Toby)
  • Equipment (Brian)
    • Bats coming in any day now!
    • Looking into resistance bands
    • Equipment will be handed out at April 4 meeting
  • Schedule (Emmy) 
    • Permits mostly in order (still need for Dale Petit and Paul Frank)
  • Volunteers (Kim/Julie)
    • May 5 – Site Director training – time TBD (likely AM)
    • Concessions – trying for no hot food.Mike working with local businesses
    • April 15 – go live date with Dibbs
  • Umpires (Joel)
    • Nothing
  • Fields (Erik / Jeb)
    • Nothing
