Traveling Baseball Board Meeting

8pm- Wolfe Park Pavilion

Attendees

  • Mark Young
  • Rob Eberle
  • Greg Meyer
  • Todd Dvorak
  • Mitchell Sledge
  • Jenny Harper
  • Rob Robello

Slugfest

  • MBT confirmed State bids for all levels for Slugfest.  Todd received instructions on how to put it on the MBT website, and Todd will work with Gino to get it on our website.
  • Gopher State bids will be announced in January.
  • Need to brainstorm to figure out how to make the Slugfest a tournament of choice:

-Getting Gopher State bid will be helpful.

-Early marketing will be important.

-Price point is good.

-We will take the 10 and 11 year old levels, reduce price point to $300, and put on a great tournament to keep interest year over year.

  • Need to have website and marketing materials done by end of year.
  • Gino should link in field information on website- beef up Slugfest information.
  • Need to buy trophies- that will be taken care of later.  Last year spent $750.
  • Umpire Coordinator for tournament- need to get info from Andy Aunan.  Game schedules, plugging in umpires, coordinating games.

Coaching

  • 13AA Coaches - Martin Schlegel and Jordan Fracassi; hopefully a parent will help.  Now all coaching slots are full.
  • Coaches meeting- Park Tavern- Tuesday, December 16, 2014.  Get a sense of what coaches want for tournaments.  Get contact information, go over goals and expectations, playing time, plan for winter training.
  • Background checks- cannot be done at the meeting- takes awhile to input all the info.  Greg will ask coaches to bring SS#, DL # and address to the meeting, Mitchell will gather the information, keep it in a lock box and then shred after processing.
  • Concussion training- through MBT, on website, all coaches must take it, print certificate, and team parent to keep in book for tournaments.
  • First aid kits- would like them easy and consistent- ordering from a vendor for $20 a piece.
  • Coaching agreements for non-parent coaches.  More experienced coaches getting a little more money.
  • Winter training starts on January 4, 2015.

Budget

  • 54 commitment fees paid
  • 46 still outstanding
  • Will send directed e-mails to parents who have not paid.  Include information about payment plans, contact Mark Young by e-mail.
  • Little League has paid us $1000, and will pay us another $500
  • Still waiting for check from Hockey Association for $1500, ear-marked for equipment or uniforms.
  • Budget is lean, so we need to focus on the priority items.

Equipment

  • Need bat regulations for all age levels- purchase one team bat for each team.  Kids tend to share bats.

Fundraising

  • Rob presented on cookie dough proposal.  We are reviewing and will determine at next meeting.
