SLP Traveling Board Meeting 2/12/17

Guest: Spirit Wear proposal – Toby Boyum

  • Toby passed around samples of SLP Baseball merchandise.He will be coming back with a recommendation on 10-12 items to be offered.A code will be given to parents to be used when ordering which will link purchases to SLP Traveling Baseball.SLP Traveling Baseball will receive a portion of the proceeds associated with orders from SLP Traveling families
  • Toby to provide shirts for winning teams.

Financial Update (Mark)- Finances are in a good place at this point in the year.  Hockey Association grant was approved.

Operations Update – (no more than 5 minutes each)

  • Registration (Dan) – 2 additional players registered on 13A
  • Coaches (Greg) – recruitment, coaches meeting, trusted coaches
    • Coaches meeting scheduled for Monday, March 13th at 7:00 pm. Location TBD
  • Uniforms (Kara) – Jerseys, hats, fittings
    • All players have been measured
    • Made a decision to use the same cap as last year
    • Made a decision to purchase 25 coaches shirts
  • Tournaments (Erik) – schedule, hotel, other
    • We have a recommendation on not doing MYAS tournament next year (based on challenges in field scheduling over 3 weekends)
  • Slugfest (Dan)
    • Only need two more teams (12AAA)
    • Checking with Alan Brown on permits
    • Slugfest – Gino will start building out the Slugfest Tourney Microsite when tournament details are further defined
  • Volunteers (Kim, Julie) – Kim and Julie working on the volunteer schedule/plan
  • Website / Communications (Gino)
    • All players rostered on the site
    • Team pages are live and include rosters, calendars with practices and tournaments)
    • Going to be adding

      • Slugfest Hotel information
  • Umpires (Joel)
    • Nothing to report
  • Equipment (Brian)
    • All team equipment bags have been assembled
    • Researching options for practice balls
    • Considering giving each team a popup screen for BP at before games
  • Field Scheduling (James) – James not present

Player Development (Jeb) – Light attendance for Winter Workouts but helpful for those who are able to attend, Player Development Plan is being reviewed

Code of Conduct (Greg) – Reviewed, and now includes a social media policy. 

Important Dates: 

  • Next Meeting - Sunday, March 5th 7:00pm at Wolfe Park Pavilion
  • MBL travel directors meeting - Feb 21st 6:00 – 8:00
  • MBL Scheduling Meeting - Saturday, April 8th 8:00am Eastview High School for all teams
  • MBL Coaches Meetings - April 18th -21st 6:00- 8:00 Rosemount Community Center (all teams must send one representative to one of three dates)
  • 12-14 league play begins - April 24th
  • 15 year old league play begins - May 15th
